Curriculum Development and Other Updates
Although AYP’s afterschool drop-in program has been closed for the semester, we’ve been busy with many new developments:
- We are creating a formal AYP curriculum, which addresses not only mindfulness of body, mind, and social conditioning, but also stresses the importance of relying on the innate wisdom and compassion that youth already possess. Additionally, this curriculum will address applied mindfulness activities, including cooking, movement, and art.
- AYP is reaching out to partners in response to increased demand for our services and to provide a robust program that serves youth throughout the area.
- In addition, we are working with new teaching artists to build a program that deeply explores mindfulness in an integrated and dynamic way.
AYP is also happy to announce that the Tuesday and Thursday after school drop-in program will reopen starting January 20th, from 4:00-5:30 pm. We look forward to seeing you there!
AYP has temporarily suspended its Tuesday and Thursday after-school drop-in sessions in order to retool our existing programs. We will reopen in January 2015 with new programming that works with mindfulness using AYP’s unique perspective—that youth just need the time and space to make their own transformations. During this time we welcome any and all inquiries into our programs, including the after school drop in and our on site mindfulness training.
